Keep your perception. I’ll take reality.
“Perception is reality.” We hear it all the time. It is all I can do to stay in my seat when I hear it. I hear these three words together and I’m brought back to sitting in meetings with people who, when asked to do a presentation, show up with a pencil and a blank sheet of paper hoping that people will see their complete lack of preparation for creativity. Here’s the thing… Reality is reality. If you find yourself or someone you work with uttering this nonsense please realize that one of two things is happening.
- Someone is making up for not knowing what is going on with their image (company or personal).
- Someone is trying to make an argument for something that they can’t find any factual basis for.
Either way… crap. There are probably more reasons this is crap. List them on the comments if you’ve got some good ones./rant
